BEDFORD HILLS, N.Y., Jan. 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- On December 23, 2018, the Town of Geneva and Joule Community Power announced the launch of Geneva Community Power, a new community solar project for NYSEG customers residing in, or in close proximity to, Geneva, NY. The program allows for those in the community to benefit from solar energy by spending less on electricity and supporting clean energy generation without owning or installing any equipment.
Highlights of the program:
- Enrolled residents are guaranteed to reduce their electricity bills
- Four hundred residents need to enroll in the project for it to successfully launch
- If 400 residents enroll, Town of Geneva will receive $25,000 toward another sustainability project
- Residents can vote and provide input on how that $25,000 is spent/what the next sustainable initiative should be
- Subscribers earn $100 for every five friends they refer to enroll
- The person who earns the most referral points wins a $500 gift card
Town of Geneva Supervisor Mark Venuti said, "By participating in Geneva Community Power, our residents can pay less for electricity while reducing Geneva's carbon footprint. And if that's not reason enough to subscribe to the project, our Town can receive $25,000 towards another sustainability initiative that is important to our residents."
Glenn Weinberg, Director of Joule Community Power stated, "With the launch of Geneva Community Power, the Town of Geneva takes a significant and exciting step on their path to 100% renewable energy. Geneva is a trailblazer, and we expect many other towns to follow their lead."
